OBS Lower Thirds for Live Sabbath School

A lower-third overlay for live church broadcasts that holds a question on screen until the presenter is ready to move on — not for a fixed few seconds.

Projekt ansehen

The Slash & Slide lower third over a full broadcast frame, question wrapped to two lines with its scripture reference in gold italic

Off-the-shelf lower thirds animate in, hold for a couple of seconds, and animate back out. That's fine for a name tag, but useless for a question a congregation is meant to read and think about. This system exists for that one requirement: the text stays up until the presenter advances it.

A control panel runs as a narrow dock inside OBS. Pick the quarter, language and lesson once — after that, showing a question is one click, and Previous / Next step through the lesson without reopening anything. Stop is lit red for as long as something is on screen, so the presenter always knows the state at a glance.

Two animation styles ship, picked from a small looping preview of each. Genuinely transparent CSS, so no chroma key filter is needed in OBS. Runs fully offline — no CDN, no Google Fonts, no network call — with all 22 languages bundled in the project's own fonts, Japanese, Chinese and Thai included.

Built to a Figma design; the numbers in the CSS come straight off its frames rather than being eyeballed.
